ENERGY EFFICIENCY
All buildings, whether of metal or massive construction, need insulation
in order to achieve their optimal energy efficiency. However, metal building
construction is more efficient because the light-mass walls consist of
light-weight metal panels and insulation, which store very little heat or cold.

Massive walls such as concrete, block or brick absorb and hold heat, so
that your heating and cooling system will have to heat or cool the walls
themselves in addition to the interior.
Light mass walls allow your system to concentrate on conditioning the air
within the building, with little effect from the walls themselves.
Another advantage of light mass wall construction is its ability to
respond quickly to temperature changes. For example, when the thermostat is
lowered at night to conserve energy, a metal building can be brought to the
desired temperature level the next day more quickly than a building with massive
wall construction.
Metal buildings have been well tested to provide data that enables
reliable determination of specific insulation needs and the size of heat
exchange systems required for any climate. Your dealer can provide you with
computerized thermal engineering study to show how much energy you can save with
a WedgCor® metal building system.
